Standard BINGO rules

A standard BINGO card uses a 75-ball format with five columns: B (1–15), I (16–30), N (31–45), G (46–60), and O (61–75). The center square is a FREE space that counts as already marked. Each column contains 5 unique numbers drawn from its range.

Winning patterns

This tool recognizes the three classic patterns: a complete horizontal row, a complete vertical column, or a complete diagonal (top-left to bottom-right, or top-right to bottom-left). When a winning line is completed, the matching cells turn gold and a BINGO! banner is shown.

Custom word BINGO

Traditional BINGO uses numbers, but the game is also a popular educational tool. Teachers use vocabulary BINGO (words instead of numbers), math-facts BINGO (answers to arithmetic problems), and science BINGO (element names, biological terms) to make review sessions engaging. Each player gets a different card arrangement so multiple winners are uncommon.

Probability of BINGO

In a standard 75-ball game with one card, the probability of BINGO by ball n grows slowly at first, then accelerates. On average, the first BINGO occurs around ball 41–43 in a room with a single card. With many players and cards, someone wins much sooner - typically around ball 30–35 in a large hall. The math involves hypergeometric distributions across all possible winning lines, which is why BINGO is a common topic in probability courses.
