• 25th (Silver): The first major milestone. Silver represents the durability and value of a long marriage. Large family gatherings and silver-themed gifts are traditional.
• 50th (Golden): The golden anniversary is celebrated with particular reverence. In many countries, couples married 50 years may receive congratulatory cards from heads of state. Gold symbolizes the highest achievement in longevity.
• 60th (Diamond): The diamond anniversary celebrates exceptional hardness and rarity - qualities shared by a 60-year partnership. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated their diamond anniversary in 2007.

How the calculator handles February 29 anniversaries

For couples married on February 29 (a leap day), the anniversary falls on February 28 in non-leap years. The calculator applies this convention by default. Some people prefer to celebrate on March 1 in non-leap years; if that is your preference, simply note the adjusted date when sharing or planning.
