Private online tools - nothing is uploaded

Toolcroft is a free directory of browser-only calculators, converters, generators, and file tools. Inputs never leave the device; there is no account and no upload. CI fails the build if a tool makes an unexpected network request.

Most "online tools" are a form in front of someone else's server. You drop a PDF, a photo, or a password into a page, the file leaves your computer, a remote process does the work, and a result comes back. That is convenient when the job is large or shared. It is the wrong model when the input is private: a tax PDF, a passport scan, a password, EXIF from a phone photo. Toolcroft is built for that second case. Each page is static HTML plus a script that runs in the tab. After the page loads, the work stays on the device.

How Toolcroft compares

The table below is an honest snapshot of where work happens, not a ranking of every feature. Calculator.net is often client-side for math, same as Toolcroft calculators. iLovePDF and TinyWow are upload-first file suites: merge, compress, and convert on their servers. "Typical upload sites" covers the long tail of one-off converters that take a file and email or download a result.

Site Where the file/input goes Account Runs offline after load Best for
Toolcroft Stays in the browser tab; never uploaded None Yes, after the page and scripts load Private calculators, converters, generators, and local file tools
Typical upload sites Sent to the operator's server for processing Often optional; sometimes required to download No One-off conversions when privacy is not a concern
iLovePDF PDF and image files are uploaded Optional for extra quota and history No Heavy PDF jobs, batch work, and cloud-saved projects
TinyWow Files and many text inputs are uploaded Optional No A large mixed catalog of file and writing utilities
Calculator.net Numbers usually stay in the page (math is client-side) None for core calculators Often yes for simple math pages Reference calculators and formulas; not a private file-tool suite

"Runs offline after load" means the page can keep working if you disconnect after scripts have arrived. It does not mean Toolcroft ships as a native installer. The first visit still downloads HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from the site, same as any static page. After that, file bytes and typed input never go back out. CI on this repo fails the build if a tool makes an unexpected network request, which is how the catalog stays honest over time.

When not to use Toolcroft

Browser-only work has limits. A huge video or a multi-hundred-megabyte PDF can exhaust the tab's memory and freeze or crash. If you need to collaborate, keep a history in the cloud, or pick up the same file on another device, an upload suite with accounts is a better fit. Toolcroft also will not replace a desktop app that already has GPU encoding, printer drivers, or OS-level file access. Load the page on a machine that can hold the file in RAM, do the job, and download the result. If the file is too large for that, use a local desktop tool rather than an upload site you do not trust.

Start with a private tool

For PDFs, use the PDF page organizer to merge, split, rotate, and reorder without sending the document anywhere. For photos, the image compressor and EXIF remover shrink or strip metadata in the tab. For secrets, the password generator never posts the output. The full directory is on all tools.
