Ear Training Game - Learn Musical Intervals

Train your musical ear by identifying intervals between two played notes.

Musical intervals

An interval is the distance in pitch between two notes. Recognising intervals by ear is a fundamental skill in music theory and sight-singing. This tool plays two notes in ascending order and asks you to identify the interval between them.

Common intervals to know

  • Minor 2nd - chromatic half-step (e.g. E–F)
  • Major 3rd - first two notes of "When the Saints Go Marching In"
  • Perfect 4th - first two notes of "Here Comes the Bride"
  • Perfect 5th - first two notes of the Star Wars theme
  • Octave - first two notes of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
