How to merge PDFs without uploading

Drop or select your PDF files above. The tool reads them locally in your browser using PDF.js, lets you reorder or delete pages, and then combines them into a single PDF using pdf-lib. Nothing is sent to a server.

Why client-side PDF tools matter for privacy

Most online PDF merger tools upload your documents to a third-party server. For confidential contracts, medical records, or personal documents, that's a real privacy risk. This tool processes everything on your device.

Combining PDFs of different sizes

Mixed page sizes (A4, Letter, Legal) are preserved as-is in the output. Each page keeps its original dimensions, so you don't need to normalise before merging.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?

Password-protected PDFs will show an error when loading. Remove the password first with a PDF reader, then retry.

Is there a file size limit?

Each individual file is capped at 200 MB. Total input over 500 MB may be slow. The browser's available memory is the real ceiling.

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens in your browser. No data is sent to any server.

How to merge PDFs without uploading

Drop or select your PDF files above. The tool reads them locally in your browser using PDF.js, displays page thumbnails you can drag to reorder, and then assembles the final document using pdf-lib. Nothing is sent to a server at any point.

Why client-side PDF tools matter for privacy

Most online PDF merger tools upload your documents to a third-party server. For confidential contracts, medical records, or personal documents, that is a real privacy risk. This tool processes everything on your device. The moment you close the tab, nothing persists.

Combining PDFs of different page sizes

Mixed page sizes (A4, Letter, Legal, custom) are preserved as-is in the merged output. Each page retains its original dimensions, so there is no need to normalise sizes before merging.

Reordering files before merging

The order of pages in the merged PDF matches the order of files in the input list. To control the output order, drag and drop the files in the list above before clicking Merge. The file shown first will contribute its pages first to the combined document.

Metadata handling

When PDFs are merged, the output document inherits the metadata (Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creation Date) from the first file in the list. Metadata from subsequent files is not carried forward. If you need the merged document to have specific metadata, use the PDF Metadata Editor to update it after merging.

File size expectations

The merged output will be approximately the sum of the input file sizes, since all page content is combined. PDF merging does not re-compress images or content streams. If the result is too large for your needs (email attachment limits, for example), run it through the PDF Compressor afterward to reduce file size.
