How to reorder pages in a PDF

Drop your PDF above and the tool pre-fills the order field with the current page sequence. Edit the numbers to the order you want: for example, type 3, 1, 4, 2 to move page 3 first: then click Reorder Pages. Everything runs inside your browser using pdf-lib. No file is ever sent to a server.

Page order syntax

Enter all page numbers separated by commas. Every page must appear exactly once. The output PDF will contain the pages in exactly the order you specify. Use the Reverse order button to instantly flip the sequence, or Reset to original to start over.

What's the difference between PDF Page Reorder and PDF Page Extractor?

PDF Page Reorder keeps all pages and rearranges them: the output has the same number of pages as the input. The PDF Page Extractor produces a smaller PDF containing only the pages you select, discarding the rest.

Privacy

Your PDF never leaves your device. All processing is done entirely in the browser. No account, no upload, no data retention.

Use cases for reordering pages

  • Booklet printing: many printers produce pages in the wrong order for manual two-sided booklet assembly. Reordering lets you prepare the correct printer order (4, 1, 2, 3 for a 4-page booklet).
  • Scan correction: scanners sometimes scan alternate pages in reverse when doing duplex (double-sided) scanning. Interleave and reorder the two passes into the correct reading sequence.
  • Moving appendices: relocate an appendix from the end to after the section it supports, or move a cover page without recreating the whole document.

Table of contents and bookmarks after reordering

PDF bookmarks and table-of-contents hyperlinks that reference specific page numbers by position (rather than by named destination) will point to the wrong pages after reordering. If the document has a navigational TOC, you will need to regenerate it in the source application after reordering. Named destinations (common in professionally-produced PDFs) are preserved correctly.
